PtBio welcomed Ms. Noryanti Rahmat, Principal Assistant Director, and Ms. Norhidayah Sahid, Assistant Director, from the Food Forensic Section of the National Centre for Food Safety, Malaysia (NCFS).
NCFS is Malaysia’s national center for scientific food safety assessment and risk management, operating under the Food Safety and Quality Programme of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
During their three-day visit, the two participants attended lectures and hands-on training sessions led by Prof. Hidemasa Bono, Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of PtBio, and Dr. Kazuki Nakamae, Team Leader of the Bio-DX Team in PtBio’s Research & Development Department.

The training covered the complete workflow from sequencing to data output, including guidance on selecting appropriate sequencing platforms and the fundamentals of bioinformatics data analysis. On the final day of the program, a certificate presentation ceremony was held, during which Dr. Nakamae presented certificates of completion to both participants.
NCFS is working toward implementing DNA-based analytical methods for food safety testing, making this training an important step in strengthening its technical capabilities.
Beyond the technical program, the visit also provided valuable opportunities for cultural exchange. The participants enjoyed casual lunches with PtBio staff, and during a break, they experienced Japanese culture through a traditional tea ceremony. These moments fostered warm communication beyond language barriers and further strengthened mutual understanding.

PtBio will continue to value international collaboration with organizations such as NCFS and promote initiatives that contribute to solving global challenges through biotechnology and bioinformatics.
