On Thursday, December 11, an Allergy-Reduced Egg Lab Tour was held, welcoming approximately 20 participants.

This event was conducted as part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ FY2025 commissioned outreach program under the Green Food System Strategy, with the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) serving as the secretariat.
The program began with a lecture on genome editing by Dr. Masahito Shikata, Senior Researcher at NARO, followed by a presentation by Professor Hiroyuki Horiuchi of the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, Hiroshima University, who spoke about the application of genome editing in livestock and poultry.
Participants then moved to Professor Horiuchi’s laboratory, where they were given a tour of the facilities, including the room where genome-edited cells are transplanted into eggs and incubated. Attendees observed with great interest the very place where the origins of Allergy-free Egg Products are created.
At PtBio Inc., our Representative Director and CEO, Keisuke Okuhara, introduced our initiatives toward the commercialization of Allergy-free Egg Products as well as our plans for global expansion. Participants were also guided through the BioDX Collaborative Research Laboratory, which is equipped with state-of-the-art next-generation sequencers.
During the tour, we received a wide range of questions from participants, including:
“Could you please explain again how the eggs can be consumed by people with allergies?”
“What kind of environment are the poultry houses maintained in?”
“How will these eggs be distributed in the future?”
These questions highlighted the strong interest in egg products that can be safely consumed by individuals with egg allergies.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us.
