PtBio, together with its Malaysian subsidiary PtBio Asia Sdn. Bhd. (“PtBio Asia”), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the women’s team of Cambodian professional football club Siem Reap FC to conduct joint research aimed at enhancing athletic performance and improving nutrition.
The project will focus on the development of a nutrition improvement program based on athletes’ gut microbiome analysis, leveraging the combined resources and expertise of all parties involved.

In recent years, the relationship between athletes’ conditioning, physical performance, and the gut microbiome has attracted growing attention in the field of sports science. Under this initiative, gut microbiome analyses will be conducted on players from Siem Reap FC, one of the leading clubs in Cambodian women’s professional football. By integrating microbiome data with individual nutritional status and performance metrics, the project aims to develop optimized nutrition programs that help athletes maximize their physical potential.
■ Roles of Each Partner
Siem Reap FC Siem Reap FC will provide data related to participating athletes, including nutritional status and daily performance metrics.
PtBio Asia PtBio Asia will lead overall project management and oversee local operations related to gut microbiome analysis.
PtBio PtBio will be responsible for integrated analysis of accumulated gut microbiome data and other nutritional datasets. Leveraging its advanced bioinformatics expertise, PtBio will serve as the project's research and development advisor.
■ Future Plans
Following the signing of the MOU, members of the PtBio team are scheduled to visit Cambodia this summer. The company will also explore collaborations with local universities and research institutions to establish efficient joint research frameworks and accelerate analytical activities within the country.
By applying its biotechnology and data analytics expertise to the field of international sports science, PtBio aims to contribute to the development of sustainable systems that support athletes’ health, performance, and long-term potential.
