PtBio Inc. (Headquarters: Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan; CEO: Keisuke Okuhara; hereinafter “the Company”) is pleased to announce the results of its overseas business expansion initiatives for fiscal year 2025.

Over the past year, the Company has significantly accelerated its global expansion, particularly across Asia. Key milestones include the establishment of a subsidiary in Malaysia, the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with leading research institutions and companies in India, and the launch of a feasibility study project in Saudi Arabia focused on the development of drought-tolerant plants.

By integrating Japan-originated genome editing technologies with advanced digital technologies, the Company remains committed to contributing to the resolution of global challenges, including food security, through innovative and scalable solutions.

Southeast Asia

Establishment of “PtBio ASIA” as a Global Expansion Hub

In January 2024, the Company established its Southeast Asian operational base at the Center of Garage Malaysia (CoGMY), located in Cyberjaya—Malaysia’s leading innovation city—with the aim of addressing social challenges in the environmental and energy sectors across Southeast Asia through biotechnology.

In February 2025, the Company entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sunway University and launched a joint research initiative utilizing metagenomic analysis to identify beneficial microorganisms that contribute to water purification and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. By analyzing environmental DNA (eDNA) from lake ecosystems, the project seeks to identify and commercialize microbial resources that support Green Transformation (GX).

Furthermore, in March 2025, the Company established its local subsidiary, PtBio ASIA SDN. BHD. (hereinafter “PtBio ASIA”), in Kuala Lumpur. In Southeast Asia—a region rich in biological resources—PtBio ASIA will function as a global bio hub, deepening co-creation with local companies and enabling an integrated approach from research and development through to commercialization.

In addition, in August of the same year, the Company signed an MOU in Indonesia with Sinar Mas Group, one of the country’s leading diversified conglomerates, further strengthening its presence and partnerships in the region.

India

Entering the Food and Research Infrastructure of a Massive Market

In India, the world’s most populous country, we have established a robust network that spans the entire value chain—from upstream research to downstream markets.

In June 2025, we signed an MOU with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). Leveraging its world-class research infrastructure, we are advancing joint research focused on the production of high value-added compounds using microalgae.

In addition, in October 2025, we entered into an MOU with SRINIVASA FARMS PVT. LTD., a poultry company based in Hyderabad. This agreement represents a key step in our overseas commercialization efforts for allergy-reduced eggs under the SBIR Phase 3 Program (Small Business Innovation Research Program), marking a significant milestone in our expansion into the Indian market. Through this partnership, we aim to promote the production and distribution of allergy-reduced eggs in India.

Feasibility Study for Sustainable Greening Development

In various urban development projects across Saudi Arabia, urban greening has emerged as a key strategic theme. By introducing turfgrass varieties with high tolerance to heat and arid conditions—selected and bred using genome analysis and genome-editing technologies—we conducted a feasibility study toward the commercialization of turfgrass infrastructure for urban greening, including gardens, parks, and sports facilities.

Building on this initiative, we exhibited at the World Future Energy Summit, held in Abu Dhabi in January 2026. Despite the limited number of exhibitors, we were selected to participate in the Japan Pavilion alongside leading global companies, and were also given the opportunity to deliver a pitch presentation.

Leveraging the global foundations established in 2025, we will further accelerate the social implementation of our technologies. Through our proprietary genome-editing and BioDX technologies, we aim to take a leading role on a global scale in realizing a sustainable bio-economy.
